An attractive herbaceous combined with array of ripe dark fruit that marries well with the fruitier and super-ripe Merlot component. With well-judged use of 50% new French barrels for 12 months, there are some distinct new oak notes of vanilla, toast and smoke adding complexity to the fruit. The well-modulated tannin is velvety. On the palate, great fruit concentration with layers of flavours: mulberry and cassis fruit, subtle new oak notes, with bright acidity, coating tannins and well-integrated high alcohol. This wine is ready to drink now and has depth and potential to improve in the bottle. |
